Spitzkoppe, Namibia — Guided via ferrataA little introduction
What is a
via ferrata?
Italian for “iron path”, a via ferrata is a climbing route fitted with steel cables and fixed footholds. It sits between hiking and rock climbing, helping you move across rock faces and reach a different view of the landscape.
You wear a helmet and harness with a dedicated, energy-absorbing via ferrata lanyard that connects to the cable. Iron rungs, steps and ladders provide handholds and footholds along the way.

A route through the rock
Follow a defined line across exposed terrain, using the rock and fixed climbing aids.

Connected to the cable
A dedicated lanyard connects your harness to the route’s steel cable.

A foothold for the ascent
Fixed rungs and steps help you climb the steeper sections.

At Spitzkoppe, you climb with a guide and technical equipment is provided. You should be comfortable with heights and uneven ground. Ask our team about suitability before booking.
